General H.R. McMaster served our nation with distinction for nearly four decades at the highest levels of the U.S. military and government. He is a preeminent voice on leadership, global security, and international affairs, recognized for his leadership in the Gulf War, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served as the U.S. National Security Advisor from 2017 to 2018.

McMaster was commissioned upon graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1984. He retired as a Lieutenant General in 2018 after 34 years of service. His command assignments in the United States Army include: commanding General. Maneuver Center of Excellence and Fort Benning; Commander, Combined Joint Inter-Agency Task Force Shafafiyat (Transparency) in Kabul, Afghanistan; and Commander, Third Armored Cavalry Regiment at Fort Carson Colorado and Iraq. 

McMaster serves as the Fouad and Michelle Ajami Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University. He is also the Bernard and Susan Liautaud Fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute  of International Studies and a lecturer  at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business. 

Former U.S. National Security Advisor and Strider Advisory Board Member

Greg Levesque is the CEO and Co-Founder of Strider, charting and executing the company’s strategic vision. As a leading expert on economic statecraft, Greg has testified before the U.S. – China Security and Economic Review Commission and has worked actively with U.S. and European Governments and Fortune 500 companies to identify, assess, and respond to the risks of nation-state sponsored commercial activity. Greg has worked with the National Security Council, Department of Defense, and U.S. Trade Representative’s Office on issues of economic statecraft grand strategy and countering of foreign interference in commercial activity.

Prior to founding Strider, Greg co-founded Pointe Bello, a strategic intelligence firm. He also previously led the China Services team at Crumpton Group and served as Business Advisory Manager at the U.S.-China Business Council.

Greg holds a M.A. in Security Studies from Georgetown University and a B.S. in Economics from Utah State University. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.

Eric Levesque is the COO and co-founder of Strider. Eric leads the operations and growth priorities of the company, working with employees, partners, and customers to deliver on the company’s mission of enabling organizations to utilize open-source data to manage risks and compete in a new era of global strategic competition.

Prior to founding Strider, Eric led the technology investment team at Oman Investment Authority, tasked with executing the investment strategy of Oman’s ‘Vision 2040’ economic plan. Additionally, Eric served on the Board of Directors for Teal Drones, a drone technology startup delivering cutting-edge drone platforms to U.S. and European militaries.

Previously, Eric worked in the Private Markets Group at Russell Investments and started his career in the Corporate Credit Group at Standard & Poor’s in New York City.

Eric is a Term Member at The Council on Foreign Relations and serves as an Advisory Board Member of the Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy and World Trade Center Utah. He holds an M.B.A. from Brigham Young University and a B.S. in Economics from Utah State University. He is fluent in Russian.

COO + Co-Founder at Strider

Mike Brown is the Co-Founder and Chief Data Officer of Strider. Mike leads the technology development at Strider and brings over two decades of experience as a technology executive.

Prior to founding Strider, Mike was the CTO of ComScore and ID.me. At ComScore he was responsible for the measurement and analysis of over two trillion rows of new data per month and the deployment of multiple data and software products in over 45 countries.

Previously, Mike worked as a software engineer for CSRA, a team leader for Global Systems Management Inc., co-founder and consultant for Pragmatic Image Technologies, and an associate for IBM.

Mike holds a M.S. in Computer and Information Science from Hood College and a B.S. in Computer Science from University of Maryland. Mike has been awarded 28 patents for his work and is a frequent speaker on big data and its business applications.

CDO + Co-Founder at Strider

Douglas Hurley joined Propulsion Systems in August 2021 as the senior
director of Strategy and Business Development.

Doug was selected as a NASA astronaut in 2000, and piloted space shuttle mission STS-127 in July 2009
and STS-135 in July 2011, the final flight of the shuttle program. In 2020, he launched into space for the
third time as spacecraft commander of the SpaceX Demo-2 mission, the first crewed spaceflight of the
SpaceX Crew Dragon and first crewed spaceflight from American soil since STS-135. He spent a total of
93 days in space.

While with NASA, Doug was assigned technical duties in the Astronaut Office, which included Kennedy
Operations Support as a “Cape Crusader,” where he was the lead Astronaut Support Personnel for
shuttle missions STS‐107 and STS‐121. He worked Shuttle Landing and Rollout, served on the Columbia
Reconstruction Team at Kennedy Space Center and served in the Exploration branch in support of the
selection of the Orion Multi‐Purpose Crew Vehicle. He also served as the NASA Director of Operations at
the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Star City, Russia.

Before joining NASA, Doug was a fighter pilot and test pilot in the U.S. Marine Corps, and the first Marine
to fly the F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet. He served on many overseas deployments and had over 24 years of
service, achieving the rank of Colonel.

Doug graduated magna cum laude with honors from Tulane University, earning his bachelor’s degree in
civil engineering in 1988. He was also a distinguished graduate from both Tulane's Naval Reserve Officer
Training Corps program and from USMC Officer Candidates School, and a recipient of many service
awards including the Defense Superior Service Medal and the Legion of Merit.

In January 2023, Doug was awarded the Congressional Space Medal of Honor for his bravery in
commanding the first NASA Commercial Crew mission to the International Space Station.

Former NASA Astronaut

Doug is a Senior Executive with 35+ years of Global Risk and Compliance, Counterintelligence, Emerging Technology, Insider Threat, General Investigations, Workplace Violence, and Supply Chain Risk. 

Prior to joining JPMorgan Chase, Doug was the Director of Counterintelligence Operations and Investigations for Lockheed Martin Corporation. In this capacity, he led a staff that was responsible for providing advice and guidance relative to investigations, counterintelligence, counterterrorism and workplace violence matters impacting the Corporation. In this role, his responsibility was to identify intelligence and terrorism threats to Lockheed Martin Corporation and work with internal and external partners to mitigate those threats while providing oversight in the security-related investigations across the enterprise. 

Before that, Doug was the Principal Deputy Director of Counterintelligence under the Office of the Director of National Intelligence following a mini-confirmation process by the White House, and the House and Senate Select Committees on Intelligence. While there, Doug was the Chair of the National Counterintelligence Operations Board, which was comprised of the Directors of Counterintelligence for each of the agencies within the Intelligence Community. His office was responsible for multiple documents due annually to the President and the Congress, such as the National Threat Identification Prioritization Assessment, which informed the President on the gravest intelligence threats facing the United States, and the National Counterintelligence Strategy, which informed the President of how the Intelligence Community would mitigate those threats.

In 2019, Doug was the first recipient of the National Security and Counterintelligence Lifetime Achievement Award.  Doug also served on the Board of Directors for the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Foundation. 

Managing Director, Insider Risk, Strategic Threats, and Workplace Violence at JPMC

Greg leads the global security programs for 3M Company, a science and technology company with
90,000 employees operating in 70 countries. Greg is responsible for devising, implementing, and
executing security, crisis management, and business continuity solutions to protect its employees,
market position, and the heartbeat of 3M – its innovation and competitive advantage.

Prior to joining 3M in 2014, Greg enjoyed a career with the US Naval Criminal Investigative Service
(NCIS), serving in Latin America, Asia, the Middle East, and multiple US locations in addition to
serving as a Foreign Service Officer with the US State Department and a Strategic Counterintelligence
Advisor to a US Navy combatant command embarked upon the USS Coronado flagship.

As the NCIS Deputy Assistant Director for Counterintelligence, Greg led counterintelligence operations
in support of the Department of the Navy’s $19 Bn Research, Development, Testing, and Evaluation
program.

With dual oversight of the NCIS Office of Special Projects and Office of Strategic Support, Greg led
investigative strategy and execution of global espionage violations in addition to investigations and
security support involving the Department of the Navy’s Special Access Programs.
In his last role with NCIS, Greg served as the Special Agent in Charge of the NCIS Southeast Asia
Field Office in Singapore, where he oversaw subordinate offices in Kuala Lumpur, Perth, Sydney,
Jakarta, and Manila.

A graduate of Georgetown University with a MA in Public Policy Management and California
State University with a BA in Economics, Greg and his wife Mary reside in Woodbury, MN.

Vice President, Chief Security Officer at 3M Company

Michael Orlando is the Senior Director of Global Physical Security, Internal Trust and Protection, and Threat Intelligence for Micron Technology. Michael is a member of Micron’s corporate security leadership team, leads global security operations and provides enterprise-wide strategic risk and security guidance. 

From 2020 – 2023, he served as the Acting Director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center (NCSC) and was the FBI's senior executive detailed to the Director of National Intelligence. In this role, he led counterintelligence for the U.S. government and led national-level programs for insider threat, supply chain risk management, and security. He also advised and oversaw counterintelligence and security consulting engagements with Fortune-ranked companies. 

Prior to his detailed assignment to NCSC, Mr. Orlando served as a senior executive with the FBI working counterintelligence and counterterrorism investigations. Mr. Orlando rose to the position of Deputy Assistant Director for the Counterterrorism Division. He also served as the acting head of counterterrorism and successfully managed several interagency crisis incident responses, including the attack at Pensacola Naval Air Station; Manda Airstrip, Kenya; as well as domestic terrorism attacks in Jersey City, NJ, and Monsey, NY.  Mr. Orlando joined the FBI in 2003 as an FBI Special Agent assigned to the Pittsburgh Division where he investigated counterintelligence matters. In his follow-on field assignment to the Washington Field Office, he worked on high priority counterintelligence special projects with multiple deployments to the People’s Republic of China. In 2009, Mr. Orlando was the program manager assigned to an FBI task force where he coordinated counterintelligence operations in the Western Pacific and East Asia and led an interagency and foreign partner effort to disrupt foreign influence in the region. In 2011, Mr. Orlando returned to the field and was assigned to the Honolulu Field Office where he oversaw the successful espionage investigation and conviction of a DoD contractor for passing national defense secrets to China. In 2013, Mr. Orlando served as the principal deputy for the East Asia Section in the Counterintelligence Division, and in 2017 he served as Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Washington Field Office, where he oversaw the successful disruption of Russian clandestine foreign agent Maria Butina. In 2018, he helped create the Counterterrorism Division’s Iran Threat Task Force. Mr. Orlando has received the FBI Director’s Award for Outstanding Counterintelligence Investigation and has been awarded three Director of National Intelligence awards for Counterintelligence Operations. A native of New York, Mr. Orlando received his bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management from the State University of New York at Cortland. In 2017, he attended Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and earned a master’s in leadership. Prior to working for the FBI, he was an officer in the U.S. Army and was employed by the Central Intelligence Agency.

Senior Director of Global Physical Security, Internal Trust and Protection, and Threat Intelligence for Micron Technology

Bill Priestap is a recognized thought leader in national security, with a particular expertise in the growing threats posed by certain foreign nations, including China, Russia, and Iran. 
Bill co-founded Trenchcoat Advisors in 2021. Trenchcoat helps businesses navigate today’s most pressing risk and security challenges. The firm has provided actionable and practical guidance to Fortune 100 companies, start- ups, governments, professional sports teams, and global law firms. 
Bill is also an adjunct professor at the Center for Security Studies at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service and is a regular public speaker on security risks. In addition, he is an advisory board member of Braven Partners and formerly served on the board of directors of Strider Technologies and as an advisory board member of Blackpoint Cyber. 
Prior to founding Trenchcoat, Bill served in the FBI for 21 years. In his last role there, as head of the Counterintelligence Division, his responsibilities included the development and implementation of the organization’s global strategy to counter foreign nations’ intelligence efforts against the United States. He was also responsible for matters relating to insider risk, IP theft, CFIUS, malign foreign influence, supply chain risk management, and espionage. As the principal official for counterintelligence, Bill interacted with hundreds of companies and gained unique insight into the risks they face. 
Bill began his career with the FBI in 1998 conducting transnational organized crime investigations in Chicago. After the events of 9/11, he handled counterterrorism cases until he was promoted to the FBI’s Office of Congressional Affairs in Washington, DC. While in Congressional Affairs, he was assigned to the U.S. Senate’s Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, where he supported their investigative and legislative efforts, including the development of the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004. 
Following his time on Capitol Hill, Bill served in the FBI’s Directorate of Intelligence and helped the FBI significantly enhance its intelligence capabilities. He was then assigned to the FBI’s New York Office, and over the next several years held a variety of intelligence, counterterrorism, and counterintelligence managerial positions. 
He later became head of the New York Office’s Counterintelligence Division and oversaw all of the office’s counterintelligence efforts. 
He was the winner of a National Intelligence Meritorious Unit Citation from the Director of National Intelligence in 2012 and the Meritorious Executive Presidential Rank Award in 2017. 
Prior to joining the FBI, Bill coached football at the high school and college levels and was the director of Football Operations at the University of Michigan. 
Bill has a J.D. and M.B.A. from the University of Detroit Mercy.

Founder, Trenchcoat Advisors

Michael Brown is a partner at the dual-use venture capital firm, Shield Capital, having joined the firm in October, 2022.  He is currently co-chairing a CNAS Defense Technology Task Force and serving as an advisor to the U.S. Navy’s inaugural Science and Technology Board.

Michael previously served four years (2018-2022) as the Director of the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) at the U.S. Department of Defense. DIU fields leading-edge commercial capabilities to the military faster and more cost-effectively than traditional defense acquisition methods.  During his tenure, DIU introduced 100 new vendors to DoD, fielded 50 new capabilities to the military, and increased the transition rate of fielded capabilities to 50%.  He also led the initiative for a new Defense Department-sponsored investment vehicle, National Security Innovation Capital (NSIC) to fund dual-use hardware technology companies.  At the end of his tenure, the Secretary of Defense awarded him the Defense Medal for Exceptional Public Service in September 2022.

From 2016 to 2018, Michael served as a White House Presidential Innovation Fellow. There, he co-authored a Pentagon study on China’s participation in the U.S. venture ecosystem, a catalyst for the Foreign Investment Risk Review Modernization Act (FIRRMA). FIRRMA was signed into law in August 2018 and provided expanded jurisdiction to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).  

Prior to civil service, Michael was the CEO of Symantec Corporation (2014-2016), at the time the global leader in cybersecurity and the world’s 10th largest software company. He is also the former Chairman and CEO of Quantum Corporation (1995-2003) and Chairman of EqualLogic (2003-2008).  

Michael received his BA degree in economics from Harvard University and his MBA degree from Stanford University.

Partner, Shield Capital

Scott Silvestro is a patriot who’s committed to enhancing the privatization of counterintelligence. As Senior Manager for the Insider Risk and Counterintelligence Program at Tokyo Electron U.S. Holdings, Scott oversees the program's effectiveness and integrity. The Insider Risk and Counterintelligence Program focuses on wellness as it pertains to proactive applications within insider risk, particularly in countering nation-state, and economic espionage threats.

Prior to joining Tokyo Electron U.S. Holdings, Scott founded Vex Intel, a consultancy executing advanced technical counterintelligence initiatives for a varied client base. Additionally, Scott worked as a Security Consultant in an undisclosed program and as an Officer with the U.S. Secret Service, serving on the elite Counter Surveillance Division.

Scott co-chairs the Nation-State and Counterintelligence Special Interest Group within the Open Source Insider Threat Information Sharing Working Group at Carnegie Mellon University's Software Engineering Institute, where he also earned the CERT Insider Threat Program Manager Certificate.

Scott holds a B.A. in Government and World Affairs from The University of Tampa. A constant advocate for growth, he continually expands his expertise in insider risk, counterintelligence, and security disciplines.

Senior Manager, Insider Risk and Counterintelligence Tokyo Electron U.S. Holdings

Mr. George C. Barnes is the President of Red Cell Partners’ Cyber Practice and a Partner at the firm. In this role, he oversees the pursuit of start-up company incubations focused on cybersecurity opportunities spanning commercial and government sectors. He ensures optimized market gap responsiveness of new incubations and guides Red Cell’s platform team support as young cybersecurity companies progress through their early-stage business lifecycles. As a Red Cell Partner, Mr. Barnes applies his national security and cybersecurity domain expertise to Red Cell’s National Security and Healthcare Practice incubation activities and oversees the company’s overall cyber-related investment strategy.

Mr. Barnes served as the Deputy Director and senior civilian leader of the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) from April 2017 through September 2023. In this role, Mr. Barnes served as NSA’s chief operating officer, overseeing strategy, policy, and operations.  As an agency deputy in the U.S. national security system, Mr. Barnes supported the U.S. defense and intelligence enterprise in national security strategy execution and the formulation of supporting policies.  He positioned NSA as an integrated mission partner enabling U.S. decision advantage and security against foreign threats.

Over his 36-year career at the NSA, Mr. Barnes held numerous technical and organizational leadership roles spanning intelligence collection operations, intelligence target analysis, foreign liaison and industrial partnership management, workforce support, and global enterprise governance.

Began with sales at factories and branches, then engaged in semiconductor marketing and business planning. Served in various departments including the Semiconductor & Device Group, President's Office, Associated Companies Division, Global Strategic Planning Group, and Government & External Relations Division. Led M&A, industry reorganization, resolution of trade friction and international cartel lawsuits.
1995-1997: Seconded to Japan Business Federation (Keidanren)
Worked on strengthening cooperation between the governments and business communities of various European countries and the Japanese business community.
October 2020: Appointed as the head of the newly established Economic Security Division
In addition to analyzing economic security information and controlling risks, carried out outreach activities on the importance and specific activities of economic security in companies.
